What Is Mahjong Ways 2?
Mahjong Ways 2 is the highly anticipated sequel to PG Soft's breakout hit Mahjong Ways, and it has quickly become one of the most beloved slot games among Filipino players at 639jl. This Asian-themed cascade slot combines traditional mahjong tile symbols with modern video slot mechanics to create an immersive and highly rewarding gaming experience.
Launched by Pocket Games Soft (PG Soft) in early 2022, Mahjong Ways 2 builds upon everything that made the original successful while introducing enhanced features, bigger multipliers, and more frequent bonus triggers. The game operates on a 6-reel, 5-row grid with an innovative "ways to win" system that can expand up to 15,625 ways during the free spins feature. This massive win potential, combined with cascading reels where winning symbols disappear and new ones drop down, creates continuous winning opportunities in a single spin.
At 639jl, Mahjong Ways 2 has become a cornerstone of our PG Soft collection, attracting thousands of daily players from Manila, Cebu, Davao, and across the Philippine archipelago. The game's appeal lies in its perfect balance of familiar Asian cultural elements—beautifully designed mahjong tiles, lucky gold symbols, and traditional Chinese aesthetics—with cutting-edge slot technology that delivers smooth gameplay on both desktop and mobile devices.
What sets Mahjong Ways 2 apart from other slots at 639jl is its exceptional Return to Player (RTP) rate of 96.90%, which is significantly higher than the industry average. This means that over the long term, the game returns ₱96.90 for every ₱100 wagered, making it one of the fairest slots available to Filipino players. Combined with medium-high volatility, this slot offers a sweet spot where players can experience regular small wins while still chasing those life-changing big payouts that can reach up to 10,000x your stake.
Key Features of Mahjong Ways 2 at 639jl
Cascading Reels Mechanic
Every winning combination triggers a cascade where winning symbols disappear and new tiles drop from above. This continues until no new winning combinations form, allowing you to chain multiple wins from a single spin. At 639jl, we've seen players hit 8+ consecutive cascades in a single round.
Free Spins Bonus Round
Land 4 or more scatter symbols (represented by golden coins) to trigger the free spins feature. You'll receive 8, 12, or 16 free spins depending on whether you land 4, 5, or 6 scatters. During free spins, multipliers increase with every cascade and never reset, leading to exponentially growing wins.
Progressive Multipliers
The game features progressive multipliers that increase during both base game cascades and free spins. In the base game, multipliers reset after each spin, but during free spins at 639jl, these multipliers accumulate throughout the entire bonus round, creating massive win potential on the final cascades.
Wild Symbol Substitutions
Wild symbols substitute for all regular paying symbols to help complete winning combinations. Wilds appear on reels 2, 3, 4, and 5, and with the cascading mechanic, a single wild can help create multiple wins as new symbols drop into place around it.

Winning Strategies for Mahjong Ways 2
While Mahjong Ways 2 is ultimately a game of chance governed by certified random number generators, experienced players at 639jl have developed several approaches to maximize their enjoyment and winning potential:
Bankroll Management is Critical
Set a strict budget before you start playing and stick to it. With medium-high volatility, Mahjong Ways 2 can have dry spells before big wins arrive. Many successful 639jl players recommend having at least 100-150x your bet size as a session bankroll to weather variance and give yourself enough spins to hit the free spins feature.
Understanding the game's volatility profile helps you manage expectations. Mahjong Ways 2 is classified as medium-high volatility, meaning wins may not come as frequently as low-volatility games, but when they do hit, they tend to be more substantial. The free spins bonus round is where the majority of big wins occur, with progressive multipliers capable of turning modest bets into massive payouts. Filipino players at 639jl report hitting the bonus round approximately once every 100-150 spins on average, though variance means it can trigger sooner or take longer.
Consider starting with the minimum bet (₱0.20) to familiarize yourself with the game mechanics and paytable before increasing your stake. This approach allows you to experience multiple bonus rounds without depleting your bankroll too quickly. Once you're comfortable with how the cascades work and you've seen the free spins feature in action, you can gradually increase your bet to a level you're comfortable with.
Many experienced 639jl players also recommend the "quit while ahead" strategy—if you hit a significant win during a session, particularly one that multiplies your starting bankroll by 3x or more, consider cashing out and returning another day. The temptation to keep playing after a big win is strong, but protecting your profits ensures you maintain a positive experience with Mahjong Ways 2.

- Never play while under the influence of alcohol or when emotionally distressed. Decision-making ability is crucial for responsible gambling.
- Remember that gambling should be entertainment, not a way to make money. While Mahjong Ways 2 has a generous 96.90% RTP, the house always maintains an edge over the long term.
